תולדות 2017

בס"ד
12.17.2017
Dear Parent,

Hebrew workbook:
This week, during the Alef Bet unit, we finished  Part 4 of the workbook!!!
We reviewed the Aleph-Bet letter names with their sounds and the vowel sound “AH” up to the letter Tav. I am sending it home for you to keep and review.
We started a new Choveret (workbook) with the vowel “Segol” (the short E sound). We will learn to spell words with both vowels we have learned (Ah and short E).
“Ariot 1 workbook”:
We finished “Ariot 1” workbook.
It was very easy for us because we had already learned so many of the vocabulary words and writing skills while doing our reading program.
“ Ariot 1” was fun! We challenged ourselves to figure out the words in the “Hactavah” (the spelling quiz at the end of each unit) and we were able to figure out the words without help. We can read all the Hebrew in it!  We were practicing Ariot I CD-ROM on the smart board in our classroom and in the computer lab which includes the same stories and activities as in the workbook.
“My library” הַסִפְרִיָה שֶלִי " (Homework for this week).
6 short stories from the Ariot workbook: “Shalom  Ani Ariot”- p.11,  “Shabbat Shalom”- p.21,   “Aba BaBayit”-P. 37,   “Gimmel Bagan?”- P.54-56    “Dag?”- P.72-74 and “Efo HavHav? “-P.87-89.
Please encourage your child to read the story aloud to you over this weekend. It is a great way to practice all the vocabulary we have learned in this unit.
Ariot:
This week Ariot went to: Chana ’s home.
Parashat Hashavua
This Friday you will find in their folder a picture page with a summary of the story of Parashat: “תולדות” (Toldot). We learned that Rivkah had twin boys: Esav and Yaakov. We learn about their differences. We learned the story of how Esav sold the birthright to Yaakov for a bowl of lentil soup.

 Shabbat Shalom,

Parashat Hashavua
This Friday you will find in their folder a picture page with a summary of the story of Parashat: “חיי שרה” (Haye Sara). We learned that Sarah died when she was 127 years old and Avraham bought the Ma’arat HaMachpela to bury her. We learned that the word “Ma’ara” means “cave”. We also learned that there are four couples buried there: Adam and Chava, Avraham and Sarah, Yitzchok and Rivkah, Yaakov and Leah. We also learned that Avraham sent Eliezer to find a wife for his son Yitzchok. Eliezer took 10 “gimalim” (“Gamal” means “camel”) and went to Charan, Avraham’s birthplace. In Charan he finds Rivkah at a well.

וירא 2017

Dear parents,
As part of our Parasha learning, our class received a very special invitation. The kindergarten requested our presence at Avraham’s tent in order to learn about
הכנסת אורחים- “Hachnasat Orchim”. We had a blast and enjoyed their company.

 “My library” הַסִפְרִיָה שֶלִי   " -  "
This week’s book is called: “Sharona Bakita?” (?שרונה בכיתה).
Find out who came with Sharona to the classroom.
Please return the book with a signature.

Ariot:
This week Ariot went to Sapira’s home.

Hebrew workbook:
This week during the Alef Bet unit we finished part 3 of the workbook. We reviewed the name of the Aleph-Bet letters with their sounds and the vowel sound “AH” up to the letter Koof. We focused on: the differences between “Pay”, “Fay” and the final letters “Fay sofit” . We practiced writing words and we learned when to use the final letters.
We also started the new Hoveret (workbook) with the last 5 letters.

Parashat Hashavua
This Friday you will find in their folder a picture page with a summary of the story of Parashat:  “ וירא” (Va yerah). We learned about two important Mitzvot that our Parasha teaches us: Hachnasat Orchim and Bikur Cholim. We also learned about other stories from the beginning of the Parasha. Please encourage your child to tell you the stories he/she learned about this Parasha using the pictures on the sheets.

Prayer:
This week we started learning about the “Ashrei” prayer in our morning davening. We learned that the “Ashrei” is a Psalm that is part of both the morning and afternoon prayer service.  After the first two introductory verses, the first letter of each verse follows the order of the Hebrew alphabet, forming an acrostic. The students noticed that every letter of the alphabet is there except for the letter “Nun”.

Shabbat Shalom from
Morah Irit.
