Passover is over and we are back to school routines.

“Chag Hasiddur” is getting closer!
Please plan to join us for this exciting event on Thursday, May 10 at 9:30am.
Siddur dedication:
Please email me a short message for your child to be placed as a dedication in his /her siddur. If you need ideas, here is an example:

We are very proud of you.  We hope you use this siddur to help you build a relationship with Hashem that will help you throughout your life. We love you.

I’m sending a letter about “Chag Hasiddur”, Please fill in and return the letter ASAP.
ספירת העומר  -  counting the Omer
We learned that from Passover until Shavout we count 49 days which is 7 weeks. Ask your child why we are counting the days.  We will continue counting the Omer every day as part of our “Tefilah” (Prayer).
Yom Ha’ atzmaut:
This coming week we will start learning about “Yom Ha’ atzmaut” (Independence day).  We will focus on:
1. The connection between the People of Israel and the Land of Israel;
2. The identification of the People of Israel with the State of Israel and Jerusalem.
Ariot 3:
This week we finished Ariot 3 workbook. We concluded with the story
"מה יש בעננים"    - what is in the cloud. The students used all of their imagination to see different shapes in the clouds.

Please encourage your child to read it aloud to you over the weekend .It is a great way to practice all the vocabulary we have learned.

Cursive Hebrew letters: 
We finished practicing writing all of the Hebrew letters in cursive using our workbook part 2.
I am sending the cursive workbook to keep and review at home.  
Please keep practicing at home and make sure your child is forming his/her letters correctly. 

Parashat Hashavua: Parashat :שמיני""
This Friday we learned about kosher and non-kosher animals, birds, and fish.

צו 2018 שבת לפני פסח

Dear Parents,
We are very busy getting ready for Passover.
This week, we continued learning about “Pesach” (Passover). We almost finished making our own interactive Haggadot. (I will sent it home B”H on Tusday).
 We have reviewed the entire order of the Seder night as written in the Haggadah. We learned the names of the ten plagues in Hebrew and English. We also learned the four names for Passover as well as the names of the four sons mentioned in the Haggadah.  We also learned that the four cups of wine we drink at the Seder stand for the four different languages for redemption. Of course, there is still more to learn! We will be spending a lot of time over the next week learning all the laws and customs surrounding the Seder night and Pesach.

Ariot:
This week Ariot is going to Arye’s home.

This Friday we learned about the 2 jobs that the Kohanit does today since we don't have "BEt-Hamikdas" (The holy temple).

Dear Parents,
We can feel Pesach in the air!

Passover:
This week, we continued learning about “Pesach” (Passover).
 We have reviewed the entire order of the Seder night as written in the Haggadah. 

What’s in the box?
This week we almost finished Ariot 3 workbook.
 We read the story called “Dan Ve Dina naganim” (The story is about children named Dan and Dina who play musical instruments). I brought to the class my own musical instrument in a big box. I asked the children to guess what musical instrument was in the box and no one was able to guess correctly!  (Ask your child what instrument it was or flip the page and look at the picture.). I explained what the instrument was and I played some songs the students knew. We concluded with the “Hatikvah”.

This week’s book is called:"יש חמץ?" - “Yesh Hametz?” (Is there a “Hametz”?).
It is a story about finding the Hametz with a special helper. (The “Tuki”- parrot).
Please encourage your child to read it aloud to you over the weekend. It is a great way to practice.

Ariot: 
This week Ariot is going to Elianna’s home. 

Parashat Hashavua:
This Friday you will find in your child’s folder a picture page with a summary of the story of Parashat :ויקרא"”. We learned that the Jews brought Korbanot because the process of bringing a korban helped them become close to Hashem.

We are continuing with our two week Passover’s  word list.

ויקהל פקודי

Dear parents,
This week, we started learning about “Pesach” (Passover). 
We were very busy making our own Haggadadot. Each of us will bring one home before Pesach. 
We learned that there are four names for Passover and the reason for each name. Of course, there is still a lot to learn! We will be spending a lot of time over the next few weeks learning all the laws and customs surrounding the Seder night and Pesach.

This week Ariot is going to Esther’s home.

This week’s book is called:"  “Boker tov Bina Ve Dov” (Good morning Bina and Dov).
 Please encourage your child to read it aloud to you over the weekend .It is a great way to practice all the body parts vocabulary we have learned.

Parashat Hashavua:
This Friday you will find in your child’s folder a picture page with a summary of the story of Parashat : "ויקהל פקודי" We reviewed all the various vessels that are in the Mishkan and we learned that Bezalel was the one appointed by Hashem to build the Mishkan. We also learned that Moshe first warned them to keep the Shabbat before giving them the commandment to build the Mishkan. This told the Jewish People that even though the building of the Mishkan was important the still must rest on Shabbat are recognize that Hashem created the world.

כי תשא

Dear Parents,
Our Purim celebration yesterday was a big success! We had so much “simcha” (happiness) all day! We wore costumes, we saw an amazing performance of the Megilah story by the 6th grade (thank you for 6th  grade students & Moreh Dror). We played games in the Purim carnival. At the end of the day, we received Mishloach Manot " 
משלוח מנות" The whole day was such fun!

The Story of Purim
On Wednesday I sent our Megillah.
 I’m sure you will agree that your child’s effort and learning is outstanding and I know you share in my pride.

Ariot:
This week Ariot is going to Avi‘s home.

This week’s book is called:""מִשְלוֹחַ מָנוֹת מֵאֲרִיאוֹת -Mishloach Manot  from Ariot.
Please encourage your child to read the books aloud to you over the weekend. It is a great way to practice all the vocabulary we have learned and will learn.

This week, we will start learning about “Pesach” (Passover). We will start making our own Haggadadot. Each of us will bring one home before Pesach.

Parashat Hashavua:
This Friday you will find in your child’s folder a picture page with a summary of the story of Parashat :כי תשא"” we learned about the Mitzvah of giving a “Machtzet Hashekel” (1/2 shekel coin) to the Bait HaMikdash so they can count how many people there are in Bnei Yisrael . Ask your child to tell you why ½ and not whole Shekel? We learned that the Kohanim used this money to buy animals for the daily Korban (sacrifice) that was brought every morning and afternoon. We also reviewed the story of the “Aigel Hazahav” or the sin of the golden calf. Have your child tell you the story!

שבת זכור


Dear parents,
We started the story of Megillaht Esther. B”H next week we will place it in our “Pringels” can. (Only if I have enough cans).
Please keep sending more “Pringles” cans.

Hebrew reading:
Last week we finished our reading program. This program has strengthened everyone’s reading skills and taught the important skill of sounding out and writing Hebrew words. This means every student can read any Hebrew word with all of the vowels as well as write any Hebrew word with any vowels! Wow!
I’m very proud of everyone’s accomplishments! I am sending home the workbook for you to keep. Please encourage your child to go over the unit with you and read all the words.

Cursive Hebrew letters:
Yey!  We can write all Hebrew words in script!
We finished learning how to write all the cursive Hebrew letters. Please make sure your child is writing his/her letters correctly.
The students have been focusing on forming the letters correctly and reading words written in cursive script.
This is the time to write all assignments in script.

Ariot:
This week Ariot is going to Dovy’s home.

ראש חודש אדר 2018

Dear Parents,
Rosh Hodesh Adar started with great “simcha” (happiness)! We danced and wore mismatch clothes.  It was a lot of fun!
Moreh Dror gave us Hamantashen " אֹזֶן המן " to eat.   It was very Yummy!
Purim:

Some children are still having trouble getting their homework notebook back to school on time.
Please make sure your child is writing his/her homework with pencil only!
Please make sure the homework notebook is placed back into your child’s  backpack.
It is extremely important to have it in class on time, otherwise I can’t post their homework.
